Kagyu Buddhist Tradition Rinpoches and Monks Conduct Prayers and Relief Distribution for Bhote Koshi Flood Victims
Rinpochis and revered Lama gurus from the Kagyu Buddhist tradition recently visited Syabrubesi and Sano Bharkhu in Rasuwa to participate in a special prayer service and religious ritual, praying for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives in the devastating Bhote Koshi floods.

Organized under the blessings and guidance of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje and His Eminence Kyabje Jigme Rinpoche, the spiritual program was jointly hosted by Shar Minub Monastery (Raniban, Kathmandu), the Karmapa Shamar Nag Association (Boudha), and the Shri Karma Raja Mahavihar Association (Swoyambhu). Prayers were offered for the peaceful rest of the departed souls, as well as for the strength, peace, and prosperity of the grieving families.

A delegation of more than 25 Khenpos, Lamas, monks, and nuns traveled to the affected areas to perform a grand two-day special prayer service under the precious guidance of Kyabje Dupseng Rinpoche, Dhupön Ngyam Rinpoche, and Tulku Zangpo Rinpoche.
According to the organizers, the decision to hold the prayer rituals directly in the flood-affected region came after grieving families expressed their deep emotional pain over being unable to perform final rites and religious ceremonies for their departed loved ones amidst the immediate disaster response.

Prior to the prayer ceremonies, relief efforts were carried out under the leadership of Khenpo Tashi Woeser, President of the Karmapa Shamar Nag Association. Essential supplies worth approximately NPR 5 million—including foodstuff, clothing, solar panels, medicines, and other necessities—were distributed to disaster-affected families across Thulo Syabru, Barbal, Thulo Bharkhu, and Sano Bharkhu.

This post-disaster initiative successfully combined material relief with spiritual comfort, offering much-needed solace to the grieving communities during a tragic time.
