Kathmandu. A new working committee led by Sameer Balami has been elected at the 27th general assembly and 10th general convention of the Film Journalists Association of Nepal. Samir Balami was re-elected as the president of the association in the election held on Saturday night.
Out of the total votes cast in the election, 140, Balami was elected as the president with 95 votes, while his rival, Jiwan Parajuli, was defeated with 42 votes.

Raghunath Sapkota has been elected as the vice president (organization) of the association led by Balami. Raghunath won with 73 votes, while his competitor Navin Giri got 62 votes. Kumar Acharya was elected unopposed as the vice president (program). Similarly, Deepjyoti Thapa has won as the vice president (female) with 75 votes. His competitor Sushma Karki got 62 votes.
Similarly, Gopikrishna Chapagain was elected as the general secretary with 54 votes. His nearest rival, Manish Karki, received 44 votes. Out of the four candidates for the post of general secretary, CP Jaisi received 19 votes and Pawan Bhattarai received 18 votes.

Madan Rijal won the post of secretary of the association with 94 votes, while his nearest competitor, Surendra Thapa Magar, managed to get 45 votes. Muhammad Jalim was elected unopposed as secretary (inclusive).
Manish Anjan Dahal was elected as treasurer with 74 votes, while his rival Nisha Bajgain received 65 votes. Similarly, out of three candidates for co-treasurer, Arjun Guragain won with 62 votes. His nearest rival Bhola Subedi Pranap received 42 votes.
All the candidates for the post of member were elected unopposed. The members who were elected unopposed are Sushil Nepal, Dinesh Thapa, Sojana BK Lohar, Yubarna Poudel (Pooja), Ratan Bahadur Chand, Salikram Neupane, Navin Chapagain, and Deepraj Chhetri.

Journalist Balami, who was elected as the president for the second time, has expressed his commitment that the new working committee will play an active role in enhancing the professionalism, dignity, and credibility of film journalism and further strengthen the association.
Advocate Krishna Dhungana was the Chief Election Officer in the election committee of the general convention. The election board included Mohan Niraula, president of the Film Artists Association, Narendra Maharjan, director Madhabraj Kharel, and former president Bidur Giri.
