Kathmandu. Private school operators have demanded the removal of the phrase ‘private schools will gradually be made non-profit’ from the school education bill.

On Sunday, organizations of private schools including PABSON, NEPABSON, National PABSON, and HISAN jointly held a press conference demanding the removal of that provision from the school teacher bill.

The General Secretary of Pabsan, R.B. Katwal, said, “The provision in the bill to gradually convert schools operated by private investment into non-profit entities contradicts the legal arrangement made by the government in 2001 under the company law. He claimed that the requirement in the bill to provide full scholarships, tuition fees, examination fees, textbooks and educational materials, clothing, transportation, and other services is against the spirit and essence of the company law.”

They have also informed that if their demands are not addressed by August 28, they will start a protest from August 29.
