Kathmandu. The Citizens’ Defense Party has announced that it will begin a protest program from today in protest against the arrest of Durga Prasai by the police. Although the protest was announced on November 20, the party leaders have said that they will protest from today to protest against Prasai’s arrest.

Prem Kumar Thamsuhang, General Secretary of the Civil Defense Party, told news of global, “The government has disturbed the peace by arresting our leader Durga Prasai in a kidnapping-style arrest in the middle of the night.”

A team from the Kathmandu District Police Complex and the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Prasai from his residence in Bhaktapur on Monday night.

Prasai, who was arrested after the violent protest on Chaitra 15, was released after a court order. Prasai, who is involved in royalist activities, had been preparing for the protest since Mangsir 7, demanding, among other things, a waiver of the loan he had taken from the bank.

But police sources said he was arrested at midnight on Monday on charges of making statements inciting violence.

General Secretary Thamsuhang said that in the first phase, a letter of protest will be submitted to the District Administration Office today and a nationwide protest will be launched.

“We were moving forward in the election by registering our party. Our activities were peaceful, but the government itself disrupted the peace,” said General Secretary Thamsuhang. “We will draw attention to this at the CDO office today.”

He demanded Prasai’s immediate, unconditional and respectful release. “Otherwise, we will end this government from the streets,” he warned.
