New York – Renowned Nepali playback singer, composer, and performer Yubaraj Chaulagain has been formally honored by the Jersey City Council, New Jersey, USA, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Nepali music, culture, and the Nepali diaspora.

The proclamation, issued in July 2026, describes Chaulagain as an influential and inspiring figure in the contemporary journey of Nepali music. The honor was presented during a special ceremony held at Jersey City Hall on Tuesday.

The certificate was handed over by Dr. Bishnumaya Pariyar, Commissioner of the Asian American Pacific Islander Commission appointed by the Governor of New Jersey and Diversity & Inclusion Advisor appointed by the Mayor of Jersey City.

The proclamation, signed by Councilman-at-Large Rolando Lavarro, highlights Chaulagain’s more than two decades of remarkable contribution to the Nepali music industry. It notes that he has recorded over 400 songs spanning Nepali films and contemporary music, establishing himself as one of Nepal’s most respected and accomplished artists.

The Council further recognized that Chaulagain’s artistic journey extends beyond singing and composing. He has played a significant role in promoting Nepali musical identity on the international stage, preserving Nepal’s rich musical heritage, mentoring emerging artists, and strengthening cultural ties among Nepali communities across the globe.

The honor was presented during the 4th Anniversary Celebration of “NepYork,” a New York-based Nepali media outlet. The proclamation states that Chaulagain’s exceptional artistry, cultural pride, and dynamic stage presence have made him a source of inspiration not only within the Nepali community but also among young members of the Nepali diaspora. Through his music, he has successfully showcased Nepali culture, emotions, and identity to international audiences.

With a career spanning more than twenty years, Yubaraj Chaulagain has established himself as one of Nepal’s most versatile and respected playback singers and contemporary music artists. His distinctive voice and expressive performances have earned him millions of admirers worldwide.
