Kathmandu: A new Nepali feature film, ‘Hajarau Ma Ek’, has been officially announced as a joint production of Nirvana Production and DAD Production. The film, which falls under the action-adventure genre, is said to be deeply rooted in mystery and supernatural fantasy. The production team aims to set a new benchmark in the Nepali film industry through its unique storyline, grand visual presentation, and high production values.

The film will be directed by veteran filmmaker and media personality Subrat Acharya. The story has been conceived by Sita Maya, who also serves as the presenter of the project. Dipendra Gautam ‘Michael’ has been appointed as the executive producer, while acclaimed cinematographer Hari Humagain will serve as the Director of Photography (DOP).

Although the film’s primary language will be Nepali, it will also be dubbed into Malayalam and Hindi to reach international audiences. According to the production team, the film’s concept creator and lead actor are associated with the Malayalam film industry. Details regarding the lead actor will be revealed during the official first-look launch. Director Acharya also confirmed that several actors and technicians from the Malayalam film industry will be part of the project.

The screenplay is currently being adapted and refined for the Nepali audience by renowned writer Shan Basnet. Principal photography is scheduled to begin during Falgun–Chaitra (February–April) of this year.
The production team stated that most of the lead cast will be Nepali actors, while the majority of the technical crew, including the cinematography team, will also come from Nepal’s film industry. The film’s music and songs will likewise be created by Nepali composers and artists.

With an estimated budget of NPR 40 million, ‘Hajarau Ma Ek’ is being positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in the Nepali film industry. Combining supernatural fantasy, adventure, action, and modern filmmaking technology, the film will be shot across some of Nepal’s most scenic tourist destinations. The producers believe the project has strong potential to captivate both domestic and international audiences.
