Kathmandu. ‘Sangharshma Siranchowk’, written by Nawaraj Pudasaini ‘Gurans’, a youth leader of the CPN (Maoist Center), has been released. ‘Sangharshma Siranchowk’ was unveiled by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center). Speaking at a public event, former Prime Minister Prachanda said that the system where strength in numbers outweighs wisdom has made our struggle difficult.
“If we had been able to establish the values established by the People’s War and the Maoist movement in schools, colleges, villages, and cities, the chaos and unrest seen today could have been prevented. The system where strength in numbers is greater than wisdom has made our struggle difficult,” he said.
He said, “Even the Pragya Pratishthan considered it an untouchable tradition when writing about the changes brought about by the Maoist movement. But the People’s War is an idea, an epoch-making culture. It has a fundamental aesthetic consciousness.”
He expressed concern over the tendency to interpret the People’s War as terrorism. “Those who consider themselves mainstream still enjoy teaching about the People’s War as a terrorist act,” he said. “If the country has moved from a feudal monarchy to a republic, it is our common responsibility to include the history of the People’s War, the main vehicle for that change, in the curriculum.”
Chairman Prachanda pointed out the need to launch a campaign to document the stories of the people’s struggles and contributions in all 753 municipalities. Chairman Prachanda said that historical stories of sacrifice, penance, and sacrifices made at every municipality and ward level can be collected and transformed into a great national work.
Author Pudasaini said that the book ‘Siranchok in Struggle’ covers the martyrs, missing persons, injured persons, prison life, and historical events related to the left movement from Siranchok rural municipality of Gorkha district during the People’s War.
The book was released at the event, and a thematic discussion was held. Maoist Center leaders Lekhnath Neupane and Mohan Lamichhane commented on the book.
