Kathmandu: England secured third place at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating France 6–4 in a thrilling third-place playoff on Sunday morning.

England’s historic victory was inspired by star forward Bukayo Saka, who completed a stunning hat-trick with goals in the 37th, 45th, and 87th minutes (penalty).

Declan Rice gave England an early lead in the 3rd minute, while defender Ezri Konsa doubled the advantage in the 18th minute from another excellent assist by Rice.

France mounted a late comeback, scoring several goals to put England under pressure. However, Jude Bellingham sealed the victory with a goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time (90+8), confirming England’s memorable 6–4 win.

With the victory, England finished third at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
