Kathmandu: Filming for the Nepali feature film Aasha, presented by Udaan Studio, has officially commenced. The production has gone on floors with a one-month shooting schedule, beginning its first day of filming in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to producer Sharmila Thapa, the team will continue shooting in Kathmandu for a few days before moving to Namobuddha and Dhulikhel to complete the remaining schedule.

“We have begun filming as planned and aim to wrap up the entire shoot within the month of Shrawan. Our goal is to bring a technically refined film that reflects authentic Nepali culture and storytelling,” Thapa said.
The first day of shooting featured actor Shushank Mainali alongside child actors Chirag Shrestha and Kashvi Bhandari. The film also stars Mahesh Tripathi, Anjana Baraili, Sushil Sitoula, Aashant Sharma, Kenipa Singh, and Kavita Regmi in prominent roles.

Directed by Rajiv Gurung, who also wrote the story, Aasha is described as a heartfelt family drama with a meaningful social message.
“We wanted to bring this story from the heart to the screen and into every family. It is an emotional and touching family film that audiences can relate to,” Gurung said.

The technical team includes Ram Kumar Shrestha as co-writer and chief assistant director, Sudam CK as script supervisor and casting director, Narendra Mainali as cinematographer, Yug Bhusal and Sameer Kharel as music directors, Kishore Acharya as sound designer, Lokesh Bajracharya as editor, and Sonali Shilpakar as makeup and hair artist.

The film also features Shanti Tamang as assistant director, Arun Regmi as production manager, Relija Shrestha as production designer, Royal Bhimsen (Trident Concept) as publicity designer, and Karan Shrestha (Reach Entertainment) as the film’s distributor.
Aasha is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on Magh 1, coinciding with the Maghe Sankranti festival.
