Kathmandu. The fifth edition of the Music Khabar Teej Music Awards, organized annually to promote Nepal’s musical and cultural traditions associated with Teej, has concluded grandly.

The award ceremony, held at Crystal Party Venue in Baneshwor, Kathmandu, honored artists and creators across 22 categories.

Singer Priti Ale won the Best Teej Song Female Duet Vocalist award, while singer Khuman Adhikari received the Best Duet Male Vocalist award. The duo won the respective awards for their song ‘Khadima Janelai Bol’.

Similarly, singer Pujan Kafle won the Best Original Teej Song Female Vocalist award for ‘Teejko Lahar Aaunda Barilai’.

The songs ‘Ranihaar’ and ‘Teen Bahini’ dominated the awards, securing hat-trick victories.

From ‘Ranihaar’, Kishor Thapa won Best Mixing, Shankar Thapa ‘Smile’ won Best Music Director, and Sangita Bhandari received the Best Teej Song Female Vocalist (Jury) award.

Likewise, ‘Teen Bahini’ won three awards, with Ram Krishna Bam Malla receiving the Best Teej Duet Music award, Bishnu Sharma winning Best Music Video Editor, and Aarti Pariyar, Tanuja Shahi and Parbati Acharya jointly receiving the Encouragement Award.

The event was presented by Artist of Nepal and organized by Shubhakamana Media Solution. Alongside the awards, women who have made significant contributions to different sectors of society were also honored.

Chief guest and veteran singer Mira Rana, award committee chairperson Sabita Pokharel, former Chairperson of the Film Development Board Dinesh D.C., and President of the Literary Journalists Association Nepal Radheshyam Lekali presented the honors.

Veteran singers Yashoda Parajuli and Tika Pun were honored with the ‘Artist of Nepal Nari Ratna Samman’.

Similarly, Kamala Risal received the ‘Artist of Nepal Literature Honor’, actress Nancy Khadka received the ‘Artist of Nepal Filmmaker Honor’, and Sojana Lohar received the ‘Artist of Nepal Arts Journalism Honor’.

Renowned fashion designer Kajal Sharma was honored with the ‘Artist of Nepal Fashion Honor’, while Shital Sharma and Anita Kunwar received the ‘Artist of Nepal National Singing Honor’.

Srishti Ghimire received the ‘Artist of Nepal Choreography Honor’, while actress and mountaineer Chhiring Sherpa was honored with the ‘Artist of Nepal Arts Honor’.

Jayanta Adhikari and Anju Pariyar received the ‘Artist of Nepal Social Service Honor’, while legal professional Kamalawali was honored with the ‘Artist of Nepal National Service Honor’.

In the competitive categories, Krishna K.C. was named Best Teej Song Music Arranger, while Jerry Bhandari was named Best Choreographer.

Anjita Bishwakarma won the Best Teej Song New Talent award for ‘Chhekyou Barai Badalule’.

In the video model categories, Narayani Khatri was named Best Female Teej Song Video Model for ‘Karnali Salal’, while Bhuvan K. Pokharel won the Best Male Teej Song Video Model award for ‘Kammaru Bhachau’la’.

The Best Teej Song Joint Model award went to Jharana Risal and Deepsha Karki for ‘Maithigharko Aangan’.

Purnima Acharya won the New Model category for ‘Bullet Bike’, while Nishan Baniya received the Best Teej Song Video Director award for ‘Karmai Khoti Chha’.

Devaraj Acharya won the Best Teej Song Video Cinematographer award for ‘Saune Jhari’.

Jerry Bhandari also won the Best Choreographer award for ‘Mwai Khandai’.

Geeta B.K. won an award for the song ‘Yo Teejma’, while Rita Burlakoti and Samiksha Adhikari were named Best Joint Vocalists for ‘Naach Chhamchham’.

Krishna Lamichhane won the Best Teej Duet Lyrics award for ‘Yo Teejma’.

In the original Teej song lyric categories, Sarita Ghimire won for ‘Naachau Na Chhamchhami’, while Bipin Kiran received the award for ‘Naach Chhamchham’.

Chandani Shakya won the Best Teej Song Female Vocalist award for ‘Teej Aayo’.

In the diaspora categories, Dr. Anitara Ranjitkar won the Best Teej Song Diaspora Lyricist award for ‘Naachau Na Sangini’, while Sharada Devi Adhikari received the Jury Award for Diaspora Song for ‘Chhakkai Pariyo’.

Usha Malaha won the Best Teej Song award for ‘Chattai Parera’, while Hamal Music was named Best Music Company for its association with ‘Chhekyou Barai Badalule’.

Dipak Sharma was named Popular Musician of the Year for ‘Naurati Phuli’.

In the Jury Award categories, Sunil K.C. won Best Original Teej Song Lyrics for ‘Karmai Khoti Chha’. Radha Hamal Baniya won the Best Teej Duet Female Vocalist award for ‘Chari Bhaye Ta’, while Bipin Acharya received the Best Music Arranger award for ‘Naachau Na Chhamchhami’.

Singer Asha Budha won the Public Choice Award for ‘Bullet Bike’.

The Encouragement Award for New Female Vocalist went to Uma Shrestha for ‘Rato Sari’, while Ramesh Raj Bhandari won the Encouragement Award for Musician for ‘Relimai Ghumaula Phirau’la’.

The event was hosted by Sesemi Limbu.

The ceremony was presided over by award organizer committee chairperson Sabita Pokharel, with veteran singer and a revered figure of Nepali music Mira Rana as the chief guest.

The event was attended by prominent personalities from Nepal’s artistic and media sectors, including Mohan Niraula, Madan Das Shrestha, Basanta Bityasi Thapa, President of the Lyricists Association Nepal; Chandra Sharma, General Secretary of the Music Royalty Collection Society; Chandramani Gautam, President of the National Folk Media Workers Nepal; veteran singer Devika Bandana; veteran journalist and lyricist Shantipriya; Dabbu Chhetry; veteran music director Ganesh Parajuli; veteran music director Santosh Shrestha; veteran lyricist Bharat Bamjan; social worker and entrepreneur Beauty Saraf; veteran beauty expert Soni Karanjit, along with numerous artists, journalists and cultural personalities.
