Officials are warning about an increase in scams involving fraudulent job offers.
Kathmandu. Although employment scams are a recurring problem, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of South Central Louisiana reports that the number of incidents filed has noticeably increased in recent weeks.
According to the BBB, the scam consists of emails and texts posing as reputable, well-known businesses that offer high-paying, flexible, and fast labour.
Warning Signs to Look Out for
You get an unsolicited job offer through messaging applications or text messages.
For basic internet work, the corporation offers inflated compensation or bonuses.
They request that you reach them on Telegram or WhatsApp.
You are required to make an upfront payment or supply banking details (ostensibly so that future profits can be withdrawn).
Keep Yourself Safe
Do your own research on the business; only visit their official website.
Never use cash to gain access to jobs or be hired.
Refrain from interacting only through Telegram, WhatsApp, or text messages.
Leave if something seems hurried, covert, or “too good to be true.”
Report scam messages to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the BBB ScamTracker at bbb.org/scamtracker.
