The rice fields in Rajapur Municipality of Bardiya, known as the granary, are looking very picturesque at the moment.
Out of the total 75,000 hectares of cultivable land in Bardiya, 50,100 hectares are used for rice cultivation.
Bardiya contributes 20 percent of the rice produced in Lumbini Province. The government has declared Rajapur Municipality a rice superzone. Farmers in Bardiya, who in the past relied solely on rice cultivation, have recently started to be attracted to crops like sugarcane and maize.
