Kathmandu: At a time when Nepal’s automobile and mobility market has been witnessing sluggish demand, the NADA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 has offered fresh optimism, with more than 180,000 visitors and better-than-expected bookings and inquiries signaling the potential for stronger market demand.
The six-day expo, organized by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NADA), attracted more than 30,000 visitors above its initial target of 150,000. Industry stakeholders said the strong turnout and growing interest in vehicle purchases could translate into higher automobile sales in the coming days.

More than 30,000 people visited the expo on its closing day alone. The event recorded 29,000 visitors on the first day, 26,000 on the second, 22,000 on the third, 31,000 on the fourth and more than 42,000 on the fifth day.
The organizer said inquiries and bookings for vehicle purchases were also stronger than expected. Gaurav Sharada, chair of the Auto Show Planning Committee, said the expo exceeded expectations in terms of visitor numbers, inquiries and bookings.
“We received far more visitors than we had expected,” he said. “The number of visitors, inquiries and bookings were all better than anticipated.”
According to him, the consumer interest seen at the expo has provided automobile businesses with an important basis for assessing market demand.

New Products Intensify Competition
More than 55 brands participated in the expo, while 53 new products were unveiled. The presence of new models and technologies under one roof gave consumers an opportunity to compare vehicles from different brands.
The focus on electric vehicles, emerging technologies, charging infrastructure and mobility solutions also indicated that Nepal’s automobile market is gradually shifting from conventional vehicles toward newer technologies.
NADA President Ritu Singh Vaidya said the strong consumer turnout and launch of new products were among the expo’s major achievements. She said the participation of more than 180,000 people was a major source of encouragement for a young organization like NADA.

Consumer Interest Boosts Market Prospects
Although automobile sales are influenced by factors such as sales momentum, imports, financing facilities and consumers’ purchasing power, industry stakeholders believe the crowd at the expo demonstrated that consumer interest in vehicles remains strong.
NADA board member Cabinet Shrestha said the large turnout was a positive sign for the automobile industry. Similarly, Akash Golchha, chair of NADA’s Strategy and Membership Affairs Committee, described the overall expo as a “superhit.”

Expo Provides Opportunity for Market Research
In addition to generating sales and bookings, the expo allowed businesses to directly assess consumer preferences, price sensitivity, interest in new technologies and brand-selection trends.
NADA Executive Director Raj Kumar Dulal said the expo was developed not merely as a platform for displaying vehicles but also as a space for knowledge sharing, collaboration and demand-driven management.
The second edition of the expo, organized with the objective of promoting a sustainable, green and technology-friendly transportation system in Nepal, sought to connect the automobile industry with emerging technologies and changing consumer demand.
Industry stakeholders expect the strong consumer participation, interest in new products and bookings recorded at the expo to create greater competition and encourage new investment in Nepal’s automobile market in the coming days.
