The Nepal-France Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) met for the fifth time in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu. On June 19, the Nepal-France Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) met for the fifth time in Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was part of a regular interaction between France and Nepal.
Given the 75th anniversary of Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal’s first climb of Annapurna, the BCM provided a valuable forum for evaluating current cooperation and investigating fresh prospects for strengthening ties between the two nations.
Comprehensive talks on a variety of topics, including economic cooperation, science, technology, education, culture, and climate action, were held between the two parties. They both indicated a desire to further collaboration in both established and developing fields, including early warning systems for disaster risk reduction and renewable energy. Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to multilateralism during the discussion of regional and international issues.
Mr. Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, the Joint Secretary and Head of the Ministry’s Europe and Americas Division, headed the Nepali team, which included members from several ministries.
Similar to this, the French delegation was headed by Benoît Guidée, Director for Asia and Oceania at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. It included Virginie Corteval, the French ambassador to Nepal; Elsa Calley, the deputy chief of mission; and Hélène Schinkel, the desk officer.
At a time that works for all parties, the sixth meeting will be held in Paris.
