Durga Prashain went to the High Court demanding the cancellation of the order from the district to keep him in custody.

Four individuals, including medical professional Durga Prasain, have approached the Patan High Court against the order of the District Court Kathmandu to send them to custody for further proceedings.

Kathmandu. Four individuals, including medical professional Durga Prasain, have approached the Patan High Court against the order of the District Court Kathmandu to send them to custody for further proceedings. The hearing has been ongoing since Thursday in the bench of judges Tankaprasad Gurung and Dilliratna Shrestha at the Patan High Court.

In the incident that took place on Chait 15 in three kunes, the detained Prasain along with Sushil Baral, Dandapani Regmi, and Saroj Gautam, who is also known as Tara Rajabadi, have filed a petition.They have requested the district to revoke the order for their detention pending trial.Similarly, the High Government Attorney’s Office in Patan has also filed a petition against them on behalf of the Government of Nepal. The petitions from both sides are being heard in the same bench.

The Kathmandu District Court had ordered on May 12 to remand seven people, including Durga Prasain, into custody for further proceedings.The government lawyer had demanded punishment against Prasain for crimes against the state, murder, culpable homicide, criminal disturbance, and organized crime.Two people died during the protest led by Prasain. One of them, journalist Suresh Rajak, died due to a fire that occurred during the reporting.

Likewise, Sabin Maharjan from Kirtipur was killed by a police bullet.
