The NEPSE, which had fallen below 2,600 in intraday trading on Tuesday, rose slightly and reached above 2,600 by the time the market closed.
On Tuesday, the NEPSE index fell by 58.55 points to 2,604 points. With the vandalism during the protest on Bhadra 24, insurance companies had claims worth more than Rs 23 billion. It is expected that these companies will face additional claims due to the floods and landslides that occurred during Dashain.
This is why reinsurance companies and non-life insurance companies have declined at the highest rate among the listed groups. The ‘other’ group of reinsurance companies listed has declined the most by 4.83 percent.
Similarly, non-life insurance companies have decreased by 2.04 percent. This group has also declined by 2.74 percent as floods have also damaged hydroelectric projects.
The Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAN) has reported that 12 hydropower projects listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) have been damaged.
People’s Hydropower, Joshi Hydro, Panchthar Power, Himal Dolakha Hydropower, Sanima Mai Hydro, Super Mai Hydro, Sagarmatha Hydropower, Maikhola Hydro, Sanvi Energy, Asian Hydro, Samling Power and Panchakanya Mai have stopped production.
Hydropower companies are at the forefront of the top 10 companies whose prices are falling due to high prices.
All group indices have declined on this day. Similarly, out of 326 investment instruments traded, 263 have decreased in price, while 56 have increased in price. The rest are stable.
A turnover of Rs 4.62 billion was recorded on Tuesday. This is an increase compared to the previous trading session. Before Dashain, a turnover of Rs 2.93 billion was recorded. The market opened after ten days due to the Dashain holiday and the emergency holiday granted by the government.
