Kathmandu. ‘Comedy Champion’ Season 1 made comic Aadarsh Mishra famous. Even though he was removed from the competition’s ‘Top Five,’ he was able to win over the audience with his unique and natural comedic presentations.
He participated in stand-up comedy shows, including “Astra Mic Night” and “Mandaj Are Funny,” prior to “Comedy Champion,” but he has lately become less well-known. He has ‘disappeared from comedy,’ according to some. He clarifies that simply because he is not visible on screen, it is incorrect to claim that he has vanished. Although he says he occasionally performs comedy gigs, many people may think he has disappeared because he hasn’t published videos of them.

According to the concept, choosing to be less visible on social media is a calculated move. He made it clear that he doesn’t want to sacrifice the caliber of his work in order to get a quick social media like. We frequently invest a lot of effort in crafting a joke, but others simply record it and post it for TikTok views. “We must preserve our jokes,” he remarked, “because that reduces the value of our creation.”

“I don’t say anything; it’s okay” is a simple response for those who say “lost.” Feeling lost is a real possibility.

“I have not strayed far from the art of acting,” Adarsha said. When he unveiled his latest creation, he stated, “Instead, I am getting ready to express my creativity on a new and wider canvas. I am getting ready to direct a film, the script of which I am writing myself.” He disclosed that although he has always been interested in performing since he was a young child, he has not yet made up his mind to appear in the movie. He added, “My priority right now is directing rather than acting. Let’s finish the film’s script first, and then we can talk about acting.”

He asserted that his next comedy film would be distinct from the cheesy comedies that are currently popular throughout the market. “The film will tell the story of a comedian who finds a safe place to show his art after struggling to live and speak freely in his country,” he said.

According to him, the narrative will delve into the inner turmoil of a comedian’s life, the viewpoint of society, and the pursuit of individuality. For the last three months, he has been scripting this movie. The finalization of the script will take another six months, he said.

Adarsh, who lives permanently in Mahagadi Mai-9 in Bara, started his comedic career with stand-up comedy programs like “Mundez Are Funny” and “Astra Mic Night.” He had the chance to take part in the inaugural season of ‘Comedy Champion’ while working on these platforms. Himesh Pant won the tournament, and Adarsh received a lot of attention. ‘Comedy Champion’ was followed by ‘Hraswadeergh.’ He hasn’t gone back to appearing in films since. “I turned down films when I wasn’t happy with the plot or my part in them,” he remarked. So he decided to write the story himself and make the movie himself.

Comedians in Nepal have a lot of opportunities these days. In addition to numerous comedy serials on tiny screens, there are television programs like “Comedy Darbar” and “Comedy Night with Champions.” Even doing stand-up comedy on YouTube is a fantastic option.

Why did Adarsh continue on his difficult path as a film director in spite of this? “I have been watching films since I was a child; I have seen a lot of them up to this point, and it turns out that making films in Nepal doesn’t require as much money as I thought,” he replied.

Adarsh says that because he feels that the film industry lacks original writers, he is writing stories himself. Some comedians in Nepal’s creative sector make a living by making obscene jokes and caricatures. Adarsh has no desire to present such a comedy. Caricature, in his opinion, is inappropriate.

“Many people have already done that, from Haribansh sir to Manoj Gajurel sir,” he added, adding that he had no interest in sounding like KP Oli. We must now bring something fresh.

He was influenced by American comedian Dave Chappelle and feels that hard work and an honest approach to creativity are the only ways to succeed. He speaks eight or nine languages, which he claims helps him better appreciate various cultures and situations. He is an idealist who loves to study and write new things.

Comedy critiques a wide range of anomalies and inconsistencies. As a result, it is claimed to enhance society. In a satirical manner, Adarsh stated, “If that responsibility is to be given to comedians, then 15 seats should be allocated in Parliament.” He was arguing that the burden of society transformation is not just the comedian’s responsibility. Like KP Oli, we are able to make people laugh and raise our voices.
