Both films received good support from audiences across the country on Friday and Saturday, especially 'Mohar' which garnered a positive response in cities including Kathmandu. The artists are excited after the good response from the audience, and the storyline of 'Sitamol' along with its theme of people's war has won the hearts of the viewers.
Kathmandu. After the release of ‘His Sweater’ last May, there was disappointment in the film industry as Nepali films could not achieve the expected business. Breaking that disappointment, ‘Mahar’ and ‘Citamol’ have been somewhat successful in instilling hope. Both films, which were released last Friday, have garnered a good audience across the country on Friday and Saturday.
By Saturday morning, the audience turnout for both films was average across the country. However, after 1 PM, particularly for ‘Mohar’, there was enthusiastic support from the audience in cities like Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Chitwan, and Pokhara. ‘Sitamol’ also had a good audience in cities like Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Butwal, Pokhara, and Banepa. The films have received positive feedback from the audience as well.
According to distributor Karan Shrestha, the film ‘Mohar’, produced under the banner of Film Makers Pvt. Ltd., has received a good audience on Friday and Saturday. He mentioned that the film has also received good word of mouth from the viewers. The film, produced by Chumbanjang Shahi, is written and directed by Om Pratik. With lead roles played by Pal Shah, Benisha Hamal, and Niti Shah, it is said that the film has attracted audiences with its theme of the ‘Deuki’ tradition.
After receiving excellent feedback from the audience about the film, actor Pal Shah also became emotional. He said, ‘Right now I can’t speak. If the director and the team are strong for an artist, then he can showcase his work. This time we worked very hard. From the audience’s response, I feel that our hard work has paid off.’ Distributor Shrestha states that the business of the film ‘Mohan’ will further increase starting Sunday.
After the audience was seen in ‘Sitamol’, the production team, including actors Sougat Mall and actress Benisha Hamal, reached various halls in the Kathmandu Valley to interact with the audience. During the show, the audience responded that the storyline of ‘Sitamol’ not only won their hearts but also moved them to tears in the end.
On Friday, a team led by UML-affiliated student organization president Dr. Sujan Kadariya, vice-president Anjana Shivakoti, and general secretary Kamal Joshi also watched ‘Cetamol’. They provided a nuanced response, highlighting the situation of the wounded fighters from the armed people’s war around 62/63 and the people of Karnali Province who still do not have access to simple medicines like Cetamol even now.
‘Sitamol’ tells a story centered around a former Maoist commander. The film has raised the subject of the people’s war, and many viewers have expressed that they could relate to it and felt emotional in several scenes.After receiving positive feedback from the audience, actor Saugat Mall said, ‘I haven’t been able to watch the entire film myself because I’ve had to meet the audience. But I am happy to hear everyone’s reactions. When the audience appreciates our work, it feels like our hard work has paid off.’
