Kathmandu. Famous comedian and actor Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha) has donated Rs 25,000 in cash to the Journalists Welfare Fund run by the Film Journalists Association of Nepal. He handed over the cash to representatives of the Film Journalists Association at the ‘Cultural Transformation Honors and Awards’ program organized by the Film Development Board.
The Film Journalists Association of Nepal is running a ‘Welfare Fund Campaign’ to strengthen the fund that has been operating for a long time for journalists’ health treatment and emergencies.
While handing over the donation, actor Ghimire said, “I have always spent a portion of my salary earned from acting on social service. This time, I am happy to make a small contribution to film journalists.” “Journalists are the means by which our creations reach the audience, and their support is also our responsibility.”
Ghimire, who is currently known as a highly paid artist, has been donating a portion of his salary to charitable causes as part of his social responsibility. He said it was a matter of pride to be able to make a small contribution to the problems of film journalists.
Expressing gratitude for actor Ghimire’s contribution, Samir Balami, central president of the Film Journalists Association of Nepal, said, “Our fund has so far directly supported the treatment of about two dozen journalists.”
“It has been providing relief and medical assistance to journalists even during times of crisis like earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic. Such support will make the fund stronger and more effective.”
The association has also called on filmmakers, artists and other well-wishers to participate in the Journalists Welfare Fund. The association believes that this support from actor Ghimire will spread a positive message and create a sense of unity in the film journalism sector.
