Kathmandu. The Lyricists Association Nepal has felicitated Darjeeling’s leading litterateur and lyricist Chandrameet Laksham. The association organized a program in the conference hall of its own office and felicitated the guests.
The felicitation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Basanta Bityasi Thapa, president of the Lyricists Association, and under the chief hospitality of senior lyricist and former Finance Minister SP Koirala, advisor.
Born in 1942 in Panchkothi, Darjeeling, Chandrameet has contributed to the fields of singing, poetry, acting, and public speaking. His famous songs include Phool Phuln Nadeu Malai and Laijau Kaata Samal.

His songs have been composed by Karma Yonjan, Ashok Rai, Basanta Chhetri, Gagan Gurung, and others, while distinguished singers like Premdhwoj Pradhan, Aruna Lama, Kumar Subba, Lochan Bhattarai, Daisy Baraili, and Pawan Gole have given their voices.
At the felicitation program, litterateur Chandrameet Laksam expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the honor bestowed upon her by the Lyricists’ Association, saying that she was indebted to them. Stating that Nepal and Nepali language and literature are above geography, she said that the honor has further increased her responsibility.
The chief guest at the program, senior lyricist SP Koirala, said that Darjeeling is a fertile land for Nepali language and literature and said that the contribution of writer Chandrameet Laksham is exemplary. Koirala said that the Lyricists’ Association has a strong connection with Darjeeling and that it is the duty of the association to honor the creators who have contributed to songs, music, and literature.

Concluding the program, Association President Basanta Bityasi Thapa expressed happiness at being able to felicitate senior litterateur Chandrameet Laksham. Chandrameet Laksham’s contribution was discussed, stating that Darjeeling is a fertile land for Nepali language, literature, and music. The program was conducted by Sanka vice president Ramesh Koirala.
