Kathmandu—Far Western Province is the most backward in the availability of facilities related to health services. The ‘Nepal Health Fact Sheet 2023, presented in the annual review issued by the Ministry of Health and Population, has shown this situation.
At least one medical college is functioning in six provinces except the Far West. Karnali Institute of Health Sciences is running in Karnali province. However, no medical college has yet come into operation in the Far West. Even the much-awaited Geta Medical College is being delayed due to the disinterest of the federal government.
Even in hospitals with more than 100 beds, Sudurpaschim is at the bottom. Bagmati has the highest number of 26 hospitals, while Far West has only 2. Three big hospitals are also running in Karnali.
